Case Study : Increasing the Traffic Count of a Large Construction Company Website, Scotland

    To increase the traffic count of our client’s website and to bring it on the front page of the major search engines for the relevant search terms.
  • About the Project
    The traffic count of our client’s website was very low, in spite of their having a strong presence in Scotland’s property and real estate market. The site was ranked low in all the major search engines. Our challenge was to bring the site within the top 10 sites in Google, Yahoo and MSN for the relevant keywords.

    We noted that the site had little text content; there were heavy flash animations and important text elements were present within the images. All this made the website unfavorable for the search engines and hence it wasn’t found anywhere in Google, Yahoo and MSN.

    The first thing that we did was to research the keywords for the site. Since we found that our client specializes in timber framed construction across Scotland, we decided to go for keywords that are specific to the business they deal in.

    We then inserted more textual content on the pages of the website. The client was prompt on the requirement and provided us with the content we needed. We tweaked the text to plug in keywords and created headers and sub headers for the pages.

    We created unique titles and descriptions for each of the pages of the website and also created and submitted an XML sitemap of the site to Google for better crawlability.

    All these completed the on-page optimization. The next important thing we needed was back links from relevant websites to get our client’s website ranking high in the search engines. We implemented ethical linking strategies to acquire the required links.

    Within the first few weeks of optimizing the website, it showed up within the top 10 sites in Google for some of the keywords. The traffic of the website also showed a steady rise. With continued optimization efforts, our client’s site is now within the top 10 sites in Google, Yahoo and MSN for most of the relevant keywords and the ranks are improving steadily.
