Case Study : SEO project for an Infrastructure Development Company, India

    To optimize a client’s website from an SEO perspective, enhancing the overall performance and appearance, as well as increasing its search rankings for the selected key words.
  • About the Project
    Our client was a leading Infrastructure Development Company in India and they play a key role in planned urban development. Their website was developed in 2004, but it continued to rank low in the major search engines for relevant search terms, and the overall performance was unsatisfactory.
    • Our challenge was to optimize the site and bring it to the first page of Google for the targeted keywords.
    • In addition, we had to enhance the appearance to make it more attractive and reader-friendly.
    The first thing we focused on was improving the design aspect. Yes, design does play an important part in attracting users. We improved the appearance and inserted optimized content to make the site more professional and search engine friendly.

    We did keyword research and shortlisted a pertinent list with high search volume and moderate competition. After that, we selected the pages against a set of keywords; initially, we did not want to target more than 3 keywords per page.

    After selecting the keywords and the targeted pages, we modified titles and META Tags. We created the titles so that they were keyword rich, non-spammy, as well as enticing enough to attract clicks in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).

    As there were a lot of images on the site, we inserted unique ALT text within the images as a way to plug in additional text. We also made an XML sitemap of and submitted it to Google. The site had URL canonicalization problem, but we also solved that to give it a unique identity in the search engine.

    To get more back links to the site for better search engine rankings, we did some off page optimization which included directory submissions, reciprocal link exchanges and the application of social media into the link building campaign.

  • Within less than a month of optimizing the website, it showed up among the top 5 search results in Google for targeted keywords.
