e-Book tutorial on osCommerce for the developer level.
- About the Project
osCommerce (“open source Commerce”) is an Open Source eCommerce and online store
management software. Our client's requirement was to create a developer level tutorial
for this software. The purpose of the document was to help developers understand
the various aspects of customizing osCommerce to suit the different business requirements.
- Solution
Technical writers from Pi Business Research coordinated closely with open source
developers for this project.
- Pi technical writers teamed up with osCommerce experts to understand the resources
of development using this application.
- A detailed FAQ list was created and the responses were formed after thorough research
for the answers on developers’ forums etc.
- The combination of in-depth technical knowledge, researched responses, and instructional
design know-how, came together to create the e-Book.
- The end result was a 500 page e-Book delivered in MSWord, PDF, and Flash format
which could be considered as a virtual treasure trove of information for osCommerce
developers.
The manual comprised screenshots, flowcharts, and diagrams to demonstrate ways to
use the software to its best potential.
We reached the high point of the project when some users of the e-Book commented
that even osCommerce probably did not have such a well researched document to function
as a comprehensive guide.
