Case Study :
SEO project for a leading IT strategy firm, USA
- Opportunity
To optimize the website of a top business and IT strategy firm from an SEO perspective.
- About the Project
Our client is a leading business and IT strategy professional services firm. They
provide services to Fortune 500 and pre-IPO companies to create lasting competitive
advantage. Our brief was to revamp the website and make it more search engine friendly.
- Solution
When we started working on the website, it was lacking in targeted keywords, page
titles, content, navigation, alt tags, etc. In other words, we needed to do a complete
overhaul in order to make the website search engine friendly.
The first thing we did was to research and find targeted keywords for the site;
keywords that were relevant and would help to bring in targeted traffic to the website.
After finalizing the keywords with due client consultation, we integrated the keywords
in the page title elements, meta descriptions, and alt tags. The website was also
lacking content on the home page and so we inserted more relevant text. Since search
engines monitor the text content, it would help improve the on-page relevancy of
the home page for the targeted keywords.
The navigation of the site was not user/ search engine friendly. We overhauled the
entire website navigation system and integrated the pages within a navigation menu
placed prominently on the pages (header, footer and left column). There was also
no HTML and XML sitemaps for the site. We created them and submitted the XML sitemap
to Google.
During the course of revamping the website, the file type of the pages changed from
.HTM to .PHP; we had to place server side 301 redirects to redirect all requests
for the old pages to their corresponding new pages.
This completed the optimization work for the website, and it now features prominently
on the front page of leading search engines for the targeted keywords.
